Recreational Activites

Recreational ServicesRecreational activities are programmed for all levels of capability and interest on a daily basis. The Lounges and Activity Room are available for therapeutic programs, holiday celebrations and family gatherings. These areas include a coffee station, a music area, soothing environment, library, game room with electronics, and a large screen TV for movies. The Auditorium hosts special entertainment events. Additionally, residents can enjoy the beauty of nature in our tree-surrounded grounds with large inviting patios.

The purpose of therapeutic recreation is to use group and individual recreation and leisure activities to help encourage socialization, involvement and enhance creativity in many ways. Residents enjoy monthly birthday parties, “news casts” and discussions, sing-a-longs, tea parties, and other various activities.

Residents are visited often by staff and family at the bedside to reminisce through family personal histories, participation in various projects, and internet access which in turn are beneficial for relationships and cognitive and physical abilities.

Regular visits from schools and the community sponsor inter-generational connections with games, crafts and conversations. There are several volunteers that assist with one-to-one visits, and groups offering companionship with pet visits, planting and individually based activities. Entertainment groups bring forth fond music memories with singing and smiles.

Our outside activities include gardening with flowers on a raised garden bed, growing seasonal vegetables, having picnics and concerts in the fresh air.

The schedule for Recreation and Leisure activities is displayed in a monthly calendar format on the internet, and posted within the facility. Copies are available for each resident and their families.

Hairdresser service is also available on a regular basis to enhance residents’ appearance and self-image.
